Just booked this adorable beach cottage πŸ˜πŸ˜ (thank you @airbnb). Can’t wait to explore the oldest city in America, St. Augustine...this is going to be such an incredible vacay with a lot of fun surprises for the kiddos along the way πŸ€«πŸ€— πŸŒŠ πŸ #staugustine #moncurfab4adventures #beachvacay

Amari is super stoked about this road trip for two reasons: endless shows and snacks galore #takesafterhismama πŸ˜„

Journal Entry about Trip to Beach:

Every year we try to take a beach vacation as a family. We had free tickets from last year to legoland and crayola so I researched beaches I’m FL and came across this gem of a city: St. Augustine (the oldest city in America—first place Ponce de Leon first came and explored—where he discovered the Fountain of Youth).

We found the cutest little Airbnb a few blocks from the beach; it was heaven! I already miss our nightly tradition of sitting out on the porch watching the moon and stars, telling bedtime stories then staying up late, having long conversations after the kids went to bed. I definitely need a wrap around porch on my future house!

We spent two and a half days and 3 nights at the beach. We explored different beaches—each so unique! Anastasia state park was 4 miles of private beach an it was covered in seashells. I don’t think I’ve been to a beach that had that many shells in the sand. We collected buckets full of shells! The white sand dunes were breathtaking and the sunsets we’re out of this world. The architecture is gorgeous and it sits right on the water—it’s become one of my favorite places! It’s also pretty cool that you can ride your car and bikes right on the beach.

Amari had so much fun playing with his dump truck and cars in the sand, building sandcastles and motes, having dad pull him across the water on the boogie board. Becks loved buring people in sand, making sand art, feeding the seagulls, and he was a pro boogie boarding. It was so relaxing and so much fun!

We are such good food, had a movie night at the beach house, walked the 200 + stairs of the oldest lighthouse in America (so breathtaking from the top), walked around the old fortress right on the water, found some great souvenirs, and walked the original cobblestone roads the Spanish built hundreds of years ago. It has a New England feel to it. This city is breathraking!

Day 1: Arrived in Saint Augustine! Oldest city in America! First stop: the cutest little Airbnb beach house—our home away from home for the next 3 days. So many good memories were created here. My favorite was movie night with the kids, story telling, tucking them into bed and then Mike and I spending each night chatting away while watching the incredible moon and stars as we sat out on this wrap around porch...so peaceful and so relaxing! We have officially decided that a wrap around porch is a must on our future home.
Becks immediately found the Jenga bricks and made me the cutest sign: “I love you mom!” Great way to start out this fantastic trip!

Next stop, dinner on the beach—literally! The boys got to stick their toes in the sand and build castles while we ate dinner, the waves could be heard in the back ground πŸŒŠ....this is livin the life right here! #beachcomber

1st night at the beach. The most incredible sunset ever! We walked to the beach after dinner—the kids didn’t have their swimsuits, but that didn’t stop them from jumping right in the ocean fully dressed πŸ˜„. Ended the night sitting out on our porch stargazing and watching the most glorious πŸŒš#suchafantasticwaytoendtheday

Day 2:

Day 2: morning breakfast at Maple Street Biscuit (the amount of gravy I was served was out of control) and a brief stroll through the beautiful city before hitting the beach all day. Lots of boogie boarding, playing in the water, building sand castles and enjoying the beautiful sun! Ended the day with a movie night—popcorn and treats—back at the beach house. Such a fantastic day!

I love how you can drive your car right up on the beach.

Day 3:

Day 3: I miss waking up in the morning eating breakfast on the porch. We ventured into the city to tour the oldest lighthouse in America. I was impressed with the boys hiking up all those stairs! I can’t imagine the light keeper having to carry that oil up those stairs every night! What a beautiful view of St. Augustine from up top! We spent the rest of the day at Anastasia State Park. It’s amazing how each stretch of beach here is so different. This particular 4mile private beach was full of sea shells. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a beach where the entire sand was full of shells. We had so much fun collecting buckets of sea shells, boogie boarding, building sand castles, and feeding the seagulls. I treated myself to a seafood boil for dinner at such a great restaurant—Salt Life. Love the decor! We finished the night with the best ice cream I think I’ve ever eaten—Rita’s frozen custard. πŸš πŸŒŠ πŸ¦€ πŸ¦

Dinner at Salt Life and ice cream at Rita’s! πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

Stroll through this beautiful historic city

More of our adventures of our 3rd day in Saint Augustine! I am in love with this city AND this lighthouse! I think having a summer beach house here is in the near future. ❤️

My favorite thing to do in the morning here:

My favorite thing to do in the morning and evening here: sit on the porch and just think :); I've loved watching the full moon every night.  It is so peaceful here. I definitely need a wrap around porch on my house one day

Heaven, pure heaven!

Day 4:

our last day in St. Augustine and we went out with a bang! We woke the kiddos up early to eat breakfast and watch the sunrise at the beach. So incredibly gorgeous! The majestic colors in the sky did not disappoint.
We had art class in the sand πŸ˜Š, took a stroll through a cute farmers market located by the pier, walked the pier and watched the surfers πŸ„‍♀️ catch their morning waves, and spent our last few hours taking a morning swim in the ocean.
Before heading out we visited some more awesome landmarks in this incredible historic city—walked around the St. Augustine fort and saw some incredible Marine life, found some fun souvenirs for the kids, ate some yummy treats, saw the statue of Ponce de Leon, walked down the old, original cobblestone roads (made me feel like I was back in Europe).
We will miss this beautiful city!
