Basketball

Beckahm started basketball; he loved it!

This little man is obsessed with sports; he LOVED watching the kids play and even tried playing some himself.

Beckahm is such a good listener and he is quite obedient to his coaches; it impresses me to watch how attentive he can be and how well he can follow direction.

Beck's Soccer Game

Mr. Beckahm wrapped up the first of his tri-sports, with a soccer game.  It started out great, he LOVED the jersey, he loved the team spirit, but once the whistle blew it was over.  He had the hardest time understanding the concept of playing on a team, of kids taking the ball away from each other, of not taking turns and sharing, and of the entire chaos of 25 little munchkins running around after a ball.  I tried everything I could to explain things to him as he ran off the court mad, sad, crying.  I kept telling him all that mattered was that he kept trying and that he had a good attitude.  I told him I could careless if he kicked the ball into the goal or if he ended up loving or hating soccer.  I just wanted him to experience something knew, keep a good attitude, and have fun.  It was definitely a big struggle for him.  His coach was nice enough to take his hand and run him around the court and allow him to kick the ball once or twice on his own.  I know it has always been a struggle for Beckahm to disbelieve in his own abilities.  He always says "I can't do it!" And he gives up so easily.  I know this will be his greatest trial in life.  My only prayer is that he never gives up trying, that he will grow up seeing how incredibly talented and gifted he is, and know that his mom and dad are proud of him for trying and for keeping a positive attitude.  I love this little man, I am glad I get to be the Mother that struggles with him.

This has been his face the past few weeks; he's developed quite the mean demeanor at times.  This was his face the 98% of the game :)

Car Snoozing

So this little man ventured into our room the other day, found my new pillow with satin pillow case and immediately became attached to it.  He pushed it off my bed and carried it around with him all day, stopping periodically to lay his head down on it; totally cracked me up!

Mike found this frog while knocking doors and brought him home as a pet for Becks.  We kept him for a week; Beck's was so thrilled to play with him and feed him crickets. We asked him what he wanted to name him and he said "Froggie" (from his favorite books). Amari liked watching the frog jump around and got a kick out of him jumping on him but other than that he wasn't that interested.  The most interesting and actually quite incredible thing was when Mike took the boys to let the frog go.  A few days later Amari kept looking at the binding on his jungle book which showcased a frog, and then he started pointing out his window.  He did this quite a few times—pointing at the frog then pointing at the window—before I caught on to what he was trying to relay: they had let the froggie go outside—SO SO SMART!!

So proud of him for how great of a builder he's become!!

Fun day at the zoo with friends!

Britton Mae LOVED manhandling Amari with this foam

Long day at the Zoo = snooze time on the car ride home

Grandma E sent this amazing package to the boys; Beckahm LOVED playing with these paints

So fitting: book in hand

Amari was in desperate need of a hair cut.  But when Mike cut off all of his beautiful golden locks I freaked out.  I have to say I DID end up LOVING the final look! (Mommy needs to chill out).  He looks like such a big, handsome boy!

Beck's now knows "bingo" :)
