Weekly Happenings

I called Uncle Jared to get his opinion on Amari's cyst and ear infections.  He advised me to get him off dairy immediately; usually constant ear infections are a side affect of a dairy allergy.  I have been a tad worried about removing all milk from his diet so I give him some Goats Milk in the morning and night.  He has seemed to improve with no dairy, and a diet that consists of mainly fruits and vegetables (Jared also informed me that you feed them food groups according to when their teeth come in.  Molars are the last to come in so grains and nuts should be given last).  Jared also thinks that the so called cyst in his neck is actually a lymph node and to wait before getting surgery and see if eliminating dairy will help it go down (he may always have a hard lump in the side of his neck because the lymph node got so agitated and infected during his sickness).  I trust Jared.  I wish we lived closer to he could check him, but I am going to do some research and see if I can find a naturopath to take my kids to.  We did purchase some probiotics to administer to Amari, some vitamin D, chia seeds, coconut oil, and gluten free products to supplement his diet.  I feel better already taking a step towards even better eating and better health in our family.  It upsets me so much, doing a lot of reading lately, how much food has been genetically modified and how many people are sick with all sorts of diseases simply from food intolerance issues.  If manufactures would have left our grains, dairies, and other foods in their pure form we wouldn't need to be on as many medications and so many sicknesses would not be prevalent today.

Ice cream is always a favorite in our house.

We officially took Amari off dairy to see if his ear infections would clear up; this was his last ice cream cone

I finally gave in to Becks request and pulled over off  the side of the road at this buisness and allowed him to ride in this hummer; he loved it.

Becks loves my Color Me Rad glasses.  He wore them into the gym, letting everyone know he was present.  On this day something funny and sad at the same time occured.  We were walking to the gym and he saw his shadow on the street and he had an immediate melt down as he tried combing his hair down.  He kept saying to me "no, I don't want my hair spiky, I want it down." He kept trying to smooth his hair down.  I told him to not worry about it, to not care what others thought of his hair, and that he came out that way, it's who he is, but he was so upset about it, he wouldn't listen.  He said "I don't want to go in there, I want to go home now."  Even when I pretended to put it down he knew it wasn't really down and told me he didn't want to go inside. I felt so bad for him.  I was torn in trying to teach him a lesson to not care what others thought (I know kids comment on his hair because they don't know what is cool at this age, and that adults always comment, in a good way, on his hair which he gets so sick of), and of also not submitting him to unnecessary ridicule.  It is so sad that such ridicule, even out of ignorance occur at age 3 :(.

Mike was out of town this week for work.  I snapped a few pics for him :)

Becks sleeping positions I happened to find him in during the week; these cracked me up.

This one made me feel like a horrible mom; he had pooped out of his pants and he didn't want it to squeeze out completely so he fell asleep like this :(

Date Night brings out the best in us . . . like a mom of 2 putting on a hot pink skirt.  Mike and I went to see the new movie Divergent (I recently finished the books and was so excited to see the movie; it met my expectations—totally loved it) and went to a yummy dinner at Firebirds with friends.  Great company, great date night out

Fire Station

For this months service we made some treats and thank you cards for the Firemen and took them to our local fire station.  The firemen were more than willing to show us around the facility and allow our group of kids to play on the firetrucks and explore the facility.  Beckahm and Amari were beside themselves.  Amari was in awe staring at the big trucks and touching the tires on the fire trucks.  Beckahm LOVED riding on the fire trucks and getting his hands on everything he could touch.  He was protective of his little brother while he sat next to him on the big fire truck.  This was such a fun day for the kids!!
