Beck's Takes Karate

I can't express how proud I am of this little man.  He was apprehensive about starting Karate because he didn't know what it entailed, but he exceeded his own expectations.  He was so brave, so willing to try something new. It was beyond awesome to see how well he did with instruction, how much he obeyed, how he was a complete leader to his fellow karate class members.  He was so dedicated to doing everything the right way (finding his dot and making sure he stood on it, watching the instructor intently and obeying every command).  I honestly don't think he lost focus one time and he never gave up.  There were a few moments when he made mistakes and he just picked himself back up and kept trying.  He would glance out the window every now and then and give me a huge grin and a thumbs up.  He was so happy, he LOVED it.  He kept talking about it on the way home and a few days after his first class.  I was so proud of him; it over joyed me to watch him doing something he loved and to see him exude bravery, confidence, commitment, obedience, respect, and leadership.  He is such a stud!

He just keeps getting better and better, I think this was his third class.  He loves Karate so much!

I was so proud of him earning two black stripes for balance and for memorizing his 4 listening positions.

Some things I wrote about him on his preschool blog post:

After quiet time we went to Karate and although he was tired he pushed through it.  These are the things I was noticing and thinking about his character as I watched him:

Becks watches his karate teacher to learn how to do the moves right (even when the teacher is helping others)--he wants to learn and do things the right way.

He pushes through things and is dedicated ...even though he had a long day at preschool he was obedient, attentive, and dedicated to karate.

He's got such a great sense of humor, when he couldn't do his side kick he looked at himself in the mirror, made a silly face, shrugged his shoulders, laughed and kept trying

He's so full of light, he wears a huge grin on his face doing karate

I was so proud of him for getting his two stripes today: for balancing and remembering all of his listening positions.  He just LOVES Karate; he is an over achiever and he loves seeing himself accomplish things.  (After Karate I took him to eat at the "smoothie place" and he was practicing his Karate moves on the chairs).
In the car on the way home he said to me, "The teacher said I was all over the place" with a huge grin on his face. He obviously thought it was a compliment :)

On the way home from the Tropical Smoothie, he said "mom, this was the BEST DAY EVER! Karate and Preschool!!!"

Becks big day: first testing in karate.  He did awesome! He got his yellow belt!
