Barrel O Monkeys, Delray Carnival, & National Kids Day

This week was full of fun community events.  I took Beck's to this place called Barrel O Monkeys, which was recommended by a local shop owner.   I can't say enough about how cool this play gym was for my active little one year old.  His eyes lit up with excitement when he saw the logo on the store—a monkey!!  Could it get any better?  YES! He had so much fun doing different courses the instructors put him through with the other kids: walking on the balancing beam, going down the slide, under a bridge and putting a ball in a basketball hoop; going through tunnels, climbing over, up, and around different obstacles, jumping on the tramp, riding on a zip line across the gym and knocking blocks down, playing parachute, playing with bubbles, singing a goodbye song, getting to kiss the big stuffed monkey goodbye, AND getting a monkey stamp at the end of class.   I was so proud of him for doing EVERYTHING, even though it was his first time.  The instructor told me it was normal to expect fear, crying, and a reluctancy to not want to do certain activities, especially going through the tunnels— if this was his first time—but boy did he prove them wrong, he was fearless.  And he did everything with enthusiasm and excitement.  It was such a blast to witness how interactive and daring he was trying so many new things.  WHAT A COOL, COOL, place! I look forward to many more classes to come.

We were also able to go to this really cool carnival/festival down on Atlantic Ave in Delray.  They shut down 6 blocks of the busy district. Various vendors set up their displays and they had an array of people from the carnival doing multiple acts.  Beck's LOVED walking around, seeing the pirates, and the acrobats and being around the locals.  What can I say, my boy LOVES people.

We ended the week by celebrating National Kids Day at a park in Delray.  They had various kid friendly activities, including swimming at the outdoor community pool, free snacks, and a playground for the kids to play on.  I love how much there is to do here; it was such a great week!

A yummy salad dinner I made one night (had to take a picture because it was so beautiful :).

Stopped in for the best homemade ice cream: salty carmel! YUM!

Puppet show; Beck's got the biggest kick out of these guys!

 Pirates!

Beck's couldn't get enough of these two dogs; he followed them around every where.
