Grand Canyon, Sedona, and Flagstaff

This was our first family road trip. We had so much fun spending the weekend with my brother and his two little girls Ty and Tayte. The kids did remarkably well in the car—minimal complaining! I am SUPER impressed by Tyler, she is such a good helper, and she is so sweet to Tayte and Becks.

Saturday afternoon we arrived in Sedona and went for a little hike through the red rocks. Afterwards, we stopped in town for lunch, and then drove to a trout farm where we spent a half hour fishing—Ty caught her first fish! We finished the afternoon at a place called sliding rock (super cool place where you can slide down the rocks and wade in the river between the red rocks).

From there we drove to Flagstaff and had dinner at Chili's and then stayed the night at La Quinta Inn. Humorously enough our night was an nightmare! Mike was coughing, Tayter's woke from two nightmares, I was terribly sick, and Beck's kept waking up screaming his head off cause he was sick as well. None of us got much sleep but we turned things around the following morning and ended up having a good day!

We had breakfast at the hotel and then headed to the Grand Canyon. I hadn't been back since I was a little kid—same for Mike—and this was the first time seeing the canyon for the kiddo's. Despite the crazy, cold, windy weather, it was so awesome seeing this national landmark! What a magnificent place!

It was a short weekend vaca but I am so happy we were able to see a little more of what AZ has to offer before we head south for the next few years. I am glad I got to spend more time with my brother and his kiddo's as well, AND it was awesome having our first family road trip together! There is truly nothing like road tripping!

Getting packed up and ready to go!
